So, What's been happening?
In the six months or so since I have blogged, a lot has happened in our family. The biggest thing happened when Josh walked into the office around August. Joshua is such an amazing son and is always looking out for his parents. But he's also an amazing "second man" to my preacher hubby. Every year he coordinates with the leadership of our church to do something special for us, and specifically for Patrick for Pastor Appreciation month in October. This being our 10th year at VSIBC, the church (they are so thoughtful!) wanted to do something big for us.
One of the things they were considering is redoing our floors. Our foreclosed 1990 mobile home had some pretty bad soft spots. Actually really bad. We had patched and repaired from underneath, but there was so much water damage that it needed a total overhaul. Josh asked us a hard question, "Do you really think it's wise to sink more money into this home? Or is it time to get a new one?" He was supportive either way, but didn't think the church should replace our floors if we wanted to get a new mobile home in the next year or so.
My first reaction? No way. I didn't want a different mobile home. I loved the one we have. The layout, the love poured into it. The colors we had chosen. The memories we had made. Nope. I was content.
But as my husband and I began to pray, we felt the Lord leading us to explore some options.
"Shopping" for a new house is hard. It really is. Nothing seemed to compare to our old one! But we were starting to feel this was what God wanted for us.
Then, we found one we loved! Absolutely loved! It's bigger than what we were in, had a lot of similar features to ours, and the colors were gorgeous! So we decided to go for it!
As we moved out God continually kept confirming His will to us. There was so much mold and leaking pipes that we uncovered. We were living in an environment that wasn't good for our health. We had sort of suspected, but had no idea how bad it really was. I'm so thankful God is in control!
Denise let us move in with her for 9 weeks. She is so kind and giving to let this crazy family invade for that long! Praise the Lord for family!
The process of getting our old one out was treacherous. The permits to move it were crazy, especially since found out we don't technically own our ditch. And our driveway crosses our ditch. It was a mess. But my God specialized in working out messes and He is always right on time!
Finally it was moved out and slowly the new one was moved in and hooked up.
Right before Thanksgiving we moved into our new home. To say we love it is an understatement. It is everything we've ever dreamed of, we are so in awe!
And as a side not, our Pastor Appreciation gift is a new porch which will be added sometime soon!
