Ruffle Garden

Last May after I had Micah and while we were in Florida, I had so much fun spending time with my sisters.  On one of our dinners out (we laughed and giggled sooo much!) we went into JCPenney.  While just browsing around, my sister Keela saw a quilt with horizontal ruffles on it.  She loved it!  From that moment on, my mind has been dreaming about ways to recreate it for her.  I knew I wanted to use my Simply Sweet Fabric for sure.   Then, when I received a Dresden ruler for Christmas I knew I wanted to add one of those.  So....it doesn't exactly look like the original.  But, I love how it turned out!
This is another one of those projects that took a couple of calls to Mom to try and figure out how to do the ruffles with a raw edge, yet still seeing the beautiful fabric.  Thanks for the help, Mom!

I've also been playing around with binding techniques (I'm horrible at hand stitching)  I used a blanket stitch on this one and I think it might be my new way to attach the bindings.
I named this quilt "Ruffle Garden" and sent it off, stitched with love, to my amazing older sister Keela!  (I had to throw in the "older" because she's been told a couple of times that they thought she was the younger.  What?)  Love you sis!

I'm linking up with Crazy Mom again for her Finish it UP Friday!
Update 5/ 28/ 2013 I'm also linking up for the Festival of Strings at Stitched in Color.   So much inspiration over there!

  7. Found you via Stitched in Color's Strip Festival (rather late) and am a follower. I love your Dresden ruffle quilt. Ruffles seem to be the new "thing" I've seen a couple of tutorials on the blogs I read. But you didn't need a tutorial....your quilt is beautiful!
