I've seen so many beautiful pictures of colorful leaves fall up north. Fall is so gorgeous! But, as I look around here in North Florida, we have our own version of Fall, and it's just as beautiful!
You may see some trees with leaves starting to turn, but not too many. For now, we have lots of beautiful green mixed with the pretty tannish/gray Spanish Moss hanging from our trees.
Temperatures finally started to cool-off last week and we have highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Absolutely wonderful! In the evenings there is a chill in the air that makes for perfect, romantic, fireplace weather!
The deer aren't appearing quite as much because they know it's Deer Season! But, we have an occasional spotting in our backyard. In town you will see many men in their Camo coming from a morning in the woods.
Our woodpile is growing as Patrick and Josh have been doing plenty of chopping!
And we often look through the woods to see if we see the orange vest of our hunting guys!
We don't have orange on our leaves, but there is lots of beautiful orangy/rust pine needles falling. It is so beautiful!
And around our place this guy enjoys digging holes, barking at the Hawks and warning us everytime a car passes....especially the school bus!
What a beautiful place that God has called us to live!!
So glad the Lord led me to your blog (via the BMW blog). We live up in Green Cove Springs and I agree with you... this part of Florida is beautiful in the Fall!
ReplyDeleteHello Laura! Wow, we don't live very far from each other, so you know the beauty of our area! I'm loving our area!!
DeleteThere is always something beautiful to be found in God's creation. It's been lovely Fall colours here but also a lot of rain. It is beautiful where you are too and how wonderful that you have deer practically outside your door. Can you hunt them there if you have a permit or do you need to go to the bush? Maybe you don't like to kill wild deer and such because some people feel like they are killing "Bambi". I like moose meat myself but very seldom get any. Enjoy the rest of your Fall. xx
ReplyDeletePatrick and Josh were just talking about all the regulations about hunting on your own land....but I didn't listen too well! :o) So, I'm not sure about when you need a permit. I do know that Patrick did get a deer last week and we have a freezer full of venison! Yum! I'll post on it soon. I've never had Moose meat before, but I have tried Elk! And I'm sure your area has been absolutely breath taking!
DeleteCool. I'm glad hear your freezer is full of venison. Did you get the butcher to cut it up and make some sausages or do it yourself? Whatever way you did it I'm sure it is good. I have tried Elk too (and Caribou and Reindeer). It's all good.
DeletePatrick butchered it, and my 3 little ones loved watching. I told Patrick that it was Science Class, then went in the house. I just couldn't stomach too much of it! ;o)
