Trip to Texas Part One

I've posted that mine and Callie's birthdays were a little different because those were traveling days for our special trip.  The reason for the trip?? I'll get to that in the next post!

We had such an amazing time and made soooo  many great memories!  We left bright and early and started to head west.

We had giftcards for IHOP.  When did IHOP get to be so expensive?!?  It was very delicious though!!

Then we stopped in Hattiesburg for the night.  The kids were able to catch up with their friends that they had made at camp a couple of years ago.  I love it that they still keep in touch with them.

We met at a park and let them have a great time together.

Then, on Wednesday, we drove further west and into Texas.  We planned to stop at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Longview, Texas for their midweek service.

Something we had started when Josh, Beth and Brenna were little was to try and instill a love for preaching.  On mission field we had services in french.  And we were still learning the language.  So we listened to as much English preaching as we could.  We listened to lots and lots of youth conferences and they loved it!  One of their favorites was Bob Gray.  In fact, when Beth and Brenna were in the youth group, and Josh and Tabitha were courting, I took the girls to a youth conference in Mississippi, and they were so excited to meet Bob Gray then.

Well, that love for preaching has caught on for my younger three as well.  Preachers are their heroes.  And I love that!  Bob Gray is also one of their favorites, so they were really excited to be able to go to Emmanuel on our trip.

I have to tell you, Pastor Gray and Mrs. Kelly were such gracious hosts.  They loved on my kids and that sure is inspiring to them.  They encouraged them so much!!  After church they took us to Braums.  Oh how I've missed Braums!!  Then, they let the kids go for a ride in their Tesla.  And even let Beth take it for a spin!

It was such a fun evening and one my kiddos will never ever forget.  So thankful for a preacher's kid that knows to love on preacher's kids!

The next day we headed a little further west.  We ate authentic mexican along the way.

And found a really great park!

And then we got a call from the Grays that their church was going to a Minor League baseball game and had extra tickets.  We were so excited to go!

And look who was there?  Liberty!  Josh and Tabitha were traveling out west too.  Actually for the same purpose as us.  So it was fun to see them along the way.

The next day we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards.  That was so fun!!!

They brought a herd through mainstreet, led by real cowboys.  It was great!

And then we bought a really cool souvenir.  I'll post on that soon.  It looks so nice in my living room!

So that was part one of our trip.  So much great family time!
