A Thankful Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We woke up to smelling wonderful turkey.  Patrick's brother, Marc, stayed the night with us, so we had a great time with him.  After we woke up, Denise came over bringing several wonderful dishes.  She even brought some punch.  This was the same punch that she had made for the night before our wedding.  It was so delicious!
It was great this year working in  the kitchen with my girls and my Mother-in-law.  In year's past, I would say, "Beth, chop these onions.  Brenn, stir this."  But, this year was different.  Brenna made the beans, Beth made the corn.  They worked with me and completed many dishes on their own.  I loved it!  It was fun having Denise in there with us and we made lots of memories!
We continued our tradition of going around the table a few times saying what we are thankful for.  As everyone said their blessings, I began to have tears in my eyes.  And maybe a few on my cheeks, too. I realized that this is perhaps the last Thanksgiving with my boy for a while. California is pretty far away, and coming home for the weekend probably won't be feasible.  So when it was my turn,  my blessing was that we were all together.  And then I cried some more.  Josh realized what I was saying, and got up to come hug me.  He's so sensitive to my emotionalness.

I am so thankful we were all together.  We have so much to be thankful for!

  1. Aw, your son is very considerate and sensitive. You and Patrick have raised him well. Now it is time to let him go but you will miss him and treasure every moment you get together in future due to it's rarity. It is so wonderful when we are able to spend time with those that we love. Big hugs. xx
