Silas ~ He's 17!

We justcelebrated Silas's 17th birthday!  It honestly seems like yesterday that we were waiting and waiting for him to be born.  What a blessing he is to our family!!
This year for his birthday he had detailed plans ready to go.  We started off the day with his friends playing football.  No surprise there!  We have a wonderful park in High Springs that has a great space for football right next to the playground.
These guys played and played and had a great time!
When they were all done I spotted my three boys walking together.  I just had to snap a pic!  I love these three guys so much!!

Then Silas wanted to try out Germaine's in Gainesville.  If you know Silas, you know he is really into chicken sandwiches.  I mean really, really into them!  He has several sandwiches ranked and always keeps a running tally going of which is the best.  Not too long ago someone asked if we'd heard about Germaine's.  They were on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dive's and their food looked so good!  So he wanted to go with me and Patrick to try it out.

I am so glad we did!  It was amazing!!

While driving in the car, just the three of us, Silas wanted some time to talk about life as a 17 year old.  We talked about cars, college, savings, and girls, too.  I love his heart to serve the Lord.  And part of serving the Lord means respecting his parents.  He does amazing at that.We were able to hear his heart and desires.  The talk was so good and a memory I will treasure.

For dinner that night he wanted to try Noodle Burgers.  You basically make a burger with the bun being ramen noodles.  I made a teriyaki mayo to go with it.  So, what did we think?  Gross.  I really didn't care for it and won't be making it again! But it was fun trying!  And we finished with a black and white movie.  I tell Silas that he is an "Old Soul" because of his love for old things. :o)

It was such a wonderful day!

The next day was a good school day.  As I walked into his room in the middle of the day he had soft hymns playing on his bluetooth speaker that was connected to our Family Room TV. He had his candle burning that we got him for his birthday (the scent is Little Debbie Oatmeal cookie.)  He had his chess board ready for a game after school.  And he had his math review work he was doing.  As I walked in I realized how much he has grown up.  He has become responsible.  He has a heart for the Lord and serves Him because HE desires to.  He has neat interests and is fun to talk to.  He's growing up so quickly into an amazing young man.  I know that it will seem like tomorrow and I will be posting his 18th birthday.  My prayer is that I can cherish every moment.  God sure is so good!
