Anne of Green Gables at the High Springs Playhouse

My girls and I such a great time seeing "Anne of Green Gables" at the High Springs Playhouse last week! The show was great! Of course we had to stop at Dollar Tree on the way to get some candy to stuff in our purse! Everytime the lights went out I could hear the candy wrappers and boxes crinkle as my girls were getting their goodies. :o)

It's so neat how the Lord works things out...the ladies of VSIBC were supposed to attend a ladies Conference next month with the theme of Anne of Green Gables. Because of Covid, that conference was canceled. It's neat that we were able to see a play of Anne of Green Gables anyway and enjoy some time together.

Freedom Joy is growing up!

Just a heads up....your screen is about to be filled with so much cuteness that you will find yourself smiling, laughing out loud a little, and dying to just run over and get some Freedom snuggles.  Well at least that's what happened to me when I uploaded these photos!

Freedom Joy is growing up so much.  She turned one year old just a few months ago.  Time flies, doesn't it?  Especially when you are having fun and we definitely are!

She's walking.  And her walk is so cute.  It's almost a waddle.  I think I could watch her toddle around all day long.  She's also talking more and more.  She doesn't say Lolli yet, but I stress the yet part! She's not necessarily a people person.  She loves her Momma and Daddy and prefers to stick with them as much as possible.  Although  she was waving at people at church yesterday, from a distance.  Big step for her!

She brings so much joy to this family, that's for sure.  We do love our Freedom Joy!

Our Goat Plans and introducing Pippi

Silas and I have been talking and thinking about the plan for our little goat herd.  Hehe....it just makes me laugh to type that.  If you've read my blog for any length of time, you will know that we have struggled making our goat farm work.  We've learned so much in the 4 years we first started with Jenna.  We've made sooooo many mistakes!  But, Silas and I think we may have a plan that will turn our little hobby into a profit.  Regardless if it does or not, I've had some fun with my boy on this little venture!

So, here's the plan and what been happening...  At first we thought we would keep all three doelings born this year. But, if we did that, we would not have any purebred babies next year.  So, we decided to keep Kanga, the kid that was just born.  She is a mini nubian and her spots are so adorable.  I'd love to have kids born with spots galore like hers.  We decided to sell the 5 remaining goats that were born and use that money to feed our goats, build a goat pen addition, and buy one more nigerian dwarf doe.  Why sell some just to buy one??  We want to try and breed pure bred nigerians, and since Mowgli (our buck) is a nigerian dwarf, then we are on the right track!

Silas and I found this sweet doe on Craigslist.  She is a purebred, blue eyed, nigerian dwarf.  We decided to name her Pippi!  Isn't she so cute!

She's still a little skiddish and not too crazy about being touched, but Silas has been working with her every day and she is getting more used to life on Storybook Farms.

In the next month or two it will be time to start the breeding process all over again so that springtime we will have some new babies!  So exciting around here!

An Adventure with my boy

When you have 6 kiddos, you don't always make time for the much needed one-on-one time that should happen.  Sadly, it's easy to let a busy schedule, with normal daily activities take up your day to day moments.  Then, as the week goes on we play catch up trying to accomplish all we should.   If we are not careful, we can bypass looking straight into the eyes of our little ones.  We can get caught up in the to-dos and not make time to just listen to the blessings God has given to us.  That has happened with my Silas lately.  It's been evident that he has needed some time with just his Momma.  I'm so thankful that we made that happen!

Not too long ago, someone gave us 2 kayaks.  So, we had Patrick drop us off at a boat ramp on the Santa Fe river with instructions to meet us down river in a couple of hours.  I taught my boy to Kayak and he was a natural!  He did so good!  While we paddled we talked about anything and everything: the upcoming school year and entering 6th grade, plans for expanding our goat herd, God's beautiful creation...we talked about it all!

While we kayaked we saw birds, turtles, otters, a snake and probably an alligator.  We had an adventure, made memories and are ready to do this again soon!

In Walmart parking lot!

After loading up groceries I put the shopping cart away.  I heard Beth from the back of the car say, "Mom, you might want to see this."  Eww!  A dead snake.  And right where we were standing!  Praise the Lord it was dead!

Macaroni Buffet

The ladies of VSIBC love to get together!  We look forward to our ladies meetings and cherish the moments we can spend laughing, talking, eating and studying God's Word together.

My sweet friend, Ashley, hosted the meeting for this month.  What a beautiful home she has!

We decided to do a pasta buffet.  We made tons (and tons) of different types of noodles.  Then, I had ladies sign up to bring different toppings such as marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, cheese, broccoli, chicken, ground beef, olives, mushrooms, bacon, green peppers and onions.  It was soooo yummy!

I found some fun noodle games to play on pinterest.  So much laughter! And competition, too!

So thankful for a group of Godly women to meet with.  We are so blessed!

$50,000 in a box!

Look what came in the mail!!  We are so excited to see things moving forward at Victory Springs Independent Baptist Church!  When the pandemic first hit we didn't know what to expect.  We'd never been through this before!  We looked at the church finances and were ready to take a pay cut if need be.  But, that was not to be so.  The wonderful people of VSIBC have been so faithful in their giving!  We were even given a raise!  They are so good to us!  Things have been moving forward in the building process as well.  Now that we have architectural plans ready to go, my hubby has been praying and looking for a General Contractor.  We hope to break ground very soon!  So exciting!

Can I doubt His tender mercy?

It has been amazing this year, as I've focused on singing more praises to the Lord during my devotion time, how He continually points me to scripture on singing.  I was in Psalms yesterday and I was reminded over and over to sing praises unto Him.  It's a command from our Savior, not a request.  It's amazing how a day that seems to be filled with turmoil and unrest can change in a moment when we fill it with songs of praise.

I am enjoying the hymn this month of "All the Way My Savior Lead Me."  The words are so powerful!  And knowing who wrote this hymn really puts things into perspective.  Fanny Crosby wrote over 8,000 hymns, which is absolutely amazing.  But, she did it with an extra challenge.  She was blind.

When she was only six weeks old she lost her sight.  Whether it was due to a doctor's error, or a congenital defect is arguable, however she was blind.  At 6 months old she lost her father and was raised by her mother.  Even though she had many difficulties, she did not let that stop her from being used by the Lord.  She said, "It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me."  She also said, "When I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior" Wow!  What an outlook!

It really makes the words to the hymn come alive when you know who wrote them.

Can I doubt His tender mercy,

Who through life has been my guide?

Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,

Here by faith in Him to dwell!

Sandy Creek Stirrings

I'm so excited for our Joshua and the new adventure that he is on!  Several months ago God began dealing in his heart about a doing a solid, Biblical podcast.  After much prayer and work, he launched Sandy Creek Stirrings yesterday.  I am so excited about this for him and see such a need for it!  Here's a glimpse of what he says on the about page:

Have you ever stood in the midst of conversation, unsure of how to answer a question that a Christian should know how to answer? Have you ever wondered why there are so many religious denominations? And how do we really know which one is true? Can we really prove it? What about all the objections to Christianity? CAN TRUTH EVEN BE KNOWN?

If you have ever asked yourself or pondered these questions, then you have come to the right place. The goal of Sandy Creek Stirrings is to “stir up” Christians to impact this world for the cause of Christ through practicality, reality, and sincerity.

I know you will be blessed by this!  He will release new episodes every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Tuesdays will be for Apologetics.....why we believe what we believe

Thursdays will be Baptist History

And Fridays will be miscellaneous topics that range from personal to spiritual.

To find the podcast you can go here.

What a need we have for this in our podcast loving culture!  So timely and so good!

Smoked Cheesecake??

I was riding in the car with my Mother in Law the other day and she mentioned watching a cooking show that smoked a cheesecake.  Hhhmmm....smoked cheesecake?  We love to smoke meat.  And I just finished making a batch of goat cheese that I wanted to make a cheesecake with.  So, why not?  I decided to go for it!

I am having so much fun making things with goat's milk!!

The recipe I used can be found here.  We smoked the cheesecake for a few hours, then invited some friends over to try it.

The verdict?

Absolutely disgusting.  It was very gross.  And it wasn't the goat cheesecake, it was definitely the smoked flavor.  Oh Well!  It was fun trying!  Now we know!

A Sweet Surprise

My Callie received a very sweet surprise in the mail.  But, let me back up a bit.  When we were down visiting my parents last month, Callie saw that my Mom had received an American Girl Magazine.  (My Mom definitely has a cool grandma status!)  Well, Callie loved looking through that magazine.  I mean really looking through every detail.  That made me and my Mom so happy.  You see Callie is on the brink of growing up into a teenager.  You can just tell that she is getting older and her likes and tastes are changing.  It's all natural and in the timing it should be, but.....Callie is my baby girl! I want to enjoy this age and not wish for her to be any older. So, when she took a re-liking to dolls, I loved it.  And so did my Mom.

Then, the mail came.  We had no idea that my Mom decided to go ahead and order Callie an American Girl Doll.  Talk about make Callie's day!  She was so excited!!!

The saying, "The days are long but the years are short" has never been a favorite of mine.  It sounds as if someone isn't enjoying the days.  But, I do get it.  Sometimes our days are filled with laundry, schooling, cleaning, and decisions to be made for our family.  Some days we fall into bed exhausted and thankful that another day is in the books.  But, the years are going by too fast.  So many changes are happening in our family.  Good changes.  I want to cherish every moment.  And this smile on my girl's face was definitely a moment to cherish!

All the way my Savior leads me ~ Hymn for August 2020

Sweet little Freedom Joy has been walking for a couple of months now.  We have all loved seeing her take those first few toddling steps.  You know the drill....someone stands the baby up and helps them get their balance.  Another person is a few feet away with arms outstretched, begging for the baby to walk to them.  Sometimes she would take a few steps and fall.  Sometimes she wouldn't even try and just plop right down.  Each time we would start over from the beginning.  Other times, and much more lately, she takes one, two, three steps towards the one with open arms.  Now, she is practically running and moving so quick and steady!

When I was looking through the hymnbook for ideas for the hymn for August, I came to "All The Way My Savior Leads Me"   The melody is beautiful, but the words are gripping.  They hold so much truth. It's one of those songs that you sit back and realize how much God really loves you.  He is like the one with outstretched arms, begging for us to come to Him. We take one step, then two and He cheers us on!  When we fall He comes to help us up.  He doesn't let us wallow there, but starts us back at the beginning and wants us to try again.
Read the words to this precious hymn:

All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
  Jesus doeth all things well,
For I know, whate’er befall me,
  Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me;
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
  In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

The verse that I will be memorizing this month is Psalm 25:5
"Lead my in thy truth, and teach me:  for thou art the God of my salvation:  on thee do I wait all the day."

A playlist for this song can be found here.

It's going to be a great month!  My prayer is for Him to lead me, because He does all things well!
This my song through endless ages....Jesus led me all the way!
