Elisabeth's Day

I think Elisabeth enjoyed her 2 surprises on Saturday. We had a great time celebrating her birthday with her a day early. First, we took her Old Quebec to a Used Book Store. Our family loves used bookstores! This one was mostly french, but also had a small English section, too. She bought a book in french on horses. It's from 1977. She's horse crazy right now and is even writing a book about a horse named Lightning. I think it's going to be good! Then, we surprised her with going out to dinner at a restaurant. Being on depuatation for almost 3 years you can kind of get tired of going out to eat. Well, I think me and Beth are the exception to that rule! She said for her birthday dinner she would like for me to make Spaghetti. It was neat because Madame Claire just told us about Le Manoir du Spaghetti. She said it's tres cher (very expensive) but they put out coupons to buy 2 spaghettis for one and you can use 2 coupons! So, we decided that we would take Beth out for her spaghetti dinner.
She was very excited when she realized we were eating at a restaurant....and we had to have reservations! That was fun! We've only eaten at a real restaurant one other time here in Quebec. (Christmas Eve Chinese) and we've eaten at BK and have gotten poutine and pizza to go. So, eating at a real restaurant was a big treat for us!

The restaurant is in an Old House. It was very packed already when we arrived and the first thing the greeter at the door said (in french) was "Do you have a reservation?" OOh La La, I did!

They had lots and lots of different spaghettis on the menu. The girls ordered the one with meatballs....they were huge! Josh had The Four Seasons. It had a seafood sauce on one part, a meat sauce on the other, fettucini for part of the noodles, and a meatball on top.

Patrick had some sort of Seafood Spaghetti with a garlic sauce and I had one that was au gratin with mushrooms, pepperonis and green peppers. It was all very delicious....and very 'tres cher'! Praise the Lord for coupons! :o)

Then, on Sunday, we had a meeting in Trois Rivieres. Patrick was preaching for Bro. Jason Hamby while he is in the states. This is one of our most recent supporting churches and the people there are very kind and gracious. Patrick did an excellent job preaching via an interpreter in the morning service, then he preached in French that night. I'm so proud of my man and how well he is doing! We brought Beth's cake with us and the family that cooked us lunch had birthday cake, too! It was fun! The church also sang "Bonne Fete Elisabeth!"

This is Gracie with Elisabeth and Brenna. They made steak for us for lunch and for dinner they made us authentic Chinese Food. Mrs. Mandy is from China, so it was the real stuff! And it was delicious! We had Chinese Noodles with beef and an amazing broth, and a side of salad...cooked! She said that in China they chop up iceberg lettuce and saute it with garlic. I watched her make it and was a little skeptical...but it was very good! It was an excellent meal and I love trying ethnic food.

Then, we went back to the church and Beth opened some of her gifts. She loved everything she received and she's been so blessed. I think my girl had a great two day birthday...but, I did feel bad that it was celebrated away from home, in someone elses home....so today, she had the day off from school and no chores to do! She's been a woman of leisure for three days. I think tomorrow it's back to work!
