I am so very excited about my new tree skirt! We have always used the Walmart special tree skirt that costs $4.99 and looks like snow. It usually last 2-3 years, or 4 if you stretch it. Well, after buying about 5 of those during our marriage, I decided I wanted a real one! I scoured some blogs and came up with a plan I would like. I had been given some really nice quality sheets with embossed stripes in them. It was perfect for the skirt!I learned how to cut the it into a good circle from Sew Many Ways. Then, I learned how to cut it into an official tree skirt shape from Make it and Love it. Then, I learned how to make bias tape binding from Sewtropolis. I loved this process! I was a little skeptical and thought for sure I would have some bumps and ripples in the binding, but it worked wonderfully and laid down so well! I decided to applique some random sized trees. The part that was the most time consuming was sewing around all those trees!
