Goodbye Ferdinand!

It was a year and a half ago that we bought our little bottle baby cow, Ferdinand.  Patrick and Josh diligently fed him and we all watched him grow.  About a month ago he jumped the fence.  He was watching Josh take out the trash and decided to join him.  Ferdinand isn't a mean cow, but he is quite big and still somewhat child like.  He was ready to play and romp around.  That could have made for some injury, that's for sure!  Josh finally got him back in the pen after making sure all of us were safe inside.  It was quite an ordeal.  So, we decided we were ready for him to go to the butchers. I still can't believe I didn't get a picture of him!  We aren't sure of his exact weight, but we're thinking about 800 lbs.

That afternoon Patrick found a cute little cow for sale.  I say little, but she's already 300 lbs.!  It's still debatable what her name is.  I wanted to name her Shallot.  Patrick says Scout.  I'm not sure what Josh and Tabitha want.  Either way, we have another cow to raise that will one day be meet in our freezer.  Isn't she cute?!

  1. BJ and I were just talking this morning about wanting to get our cow for the farm. It will help in so many ways.
