At this time in our lives I truly believe prayer is essential.
In our world and country there is much to pray about; our country opening in full swing after a pandemic and the fear that still lies in the hearts of some, our country that has seen much violence, rioting and protesting, our country on the verge of making major political decisions in the upcoming election.
In our local church, VSIBC, there is much to pray about; salvation of lost souls that come through our doors as well as those that sit week after week under conviction but keep quieting the Holy Spirit's voice, the upcoming building plans and for us to find a General Contractor and build debt free, for wisdom as we return to the ministries such as Sunday School and Bus Ministry.
In my home there is much to pray about; Tabitha's pregnancy and precious baby growing inside of her, for the new baby and Liberty and Freedom to one day accept Christ as their Savior, for my girls as they make decisions in their adulthood that will effect their futures, for Joshua and Tabitha as they look to buy their first home, for my husband as he faithfully leads our church and home, for me as I continue treatment for Myasthenia Gravis.
I know you could make a list as well of things to pray for. That's why I have chosen for the month of September to choose the hymn, "Sweet Hour Of Prayer." Just to listen to this hymn brings such a conviction in my heart to pray more and to pray more earnestly. It also brings such a comfort to know that the creator of the world would bend his ear to just listen to me. He's so good to me.
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I’ll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”
I have created a youtube playlist with the stirring words and beautiful music of this hymn that you can find here.
Jeremiah 33:3 - Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
I also plan to post each Monday this month on prayer and a challenge of things to pray for. I would love it if you could join me!
Amen. Praying always and would love to join you. God bless.xx
